The soundtrack album has some selections by composer Mark Suozzo, but is predominantly made up of hard bop jazz that both the real-life Pekar and his fictional avatar favored. In fact, Pekar was also a prolific record collector and freelance music critic in addition to his work in comics. The CD features comic book style liner notes written by Pekar. This CD includes three downloadable screensaver — one shows the liner notes comic book and the other shows American Splendor comic covers. Also included are exclusive AOL Instant Messenger icons, a comic book, cover gallery, and web links.
